North Korea fired several ballistic missiles into the sea Monday, South Korea’s military said, hours after South Korean and U.S. troops kicked off their large annual combined drills, which the North views as an invasion rehearsal.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile firings, North Korea’s fifth missile launch event this year, were detected from the North’s southwestern Hwanghae province. It called the weapons close-range but didn’t say how far they flew. The military said South Korea bolstered its surveillance posture and is closely coordinating with the United States.

Earlier Monday, the South Korean and U.S. militaries began their annual Freedom Shield command post exercise, their first major combined training of President Donald Trump’s second term. The allies have already been engaging in diverse field training exercises in connection with the Freedom Shield training.

Coastguard statement in fullpublished at 13:17

Here’s the full statement we’ve had from HM Coastguard:

β€œHM Coastguard is currently co-ordinating the emergency response to reports of a collision between a tanker and cargo vessel off the coast of East Yorkshire.

β€œThe alarm was raised at 9:48am.

β€œA coastguard rescue helicopter from Humberside was called, alongside lifeboats from Skegness, Bridlington, Maplethorpe [sic] and Cleethorpes, an HM Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft, and nearby vessels with firefighting capability.

β€œThe incident remains ongoing.”

A large rescue operation has been launched off the coast of East Yorkshire.

A number of people have reportedly abandoned the ships following the collision, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) says in its latest statement, adding that there are reports of fires on both vessels.

Two separate sources familiar with the situation earlier told the BBC that the oil tanker was on fire.

As we’ve been reporting, search and rescue teams from across the region have been deployed to respond to the incident.

The sickening admission was made in a report from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

In a parliamentary response, the PHAC’s report reveals that deaths spike dramatically in individuals who were β€œboosted” with a third and fourth Covid mRNA β€œvaccine.

Citizens who were β€œboosted” suffered far higher mortality compared to the unvaccinated, the PHAC response reveals. A parliamentary inquiry by Conservative MP Cathay Wagantall posed several questions to the PHAC.

The questions were regarding delays and inconsistencies in Statistics Canada’s reporting on excess mortality data. The inquiry also requested statistical information on COVID-19 deaths by vaccination status from June 2022 to September 2022.

In response, PHAC informed MP Wagantall on September 16, 2024, that between June and August 2022, death rates surged among β€œboosted” citizens.

Deaths were dramatically higher in those who had received two, three, and four doses of Covid mRNA vaccines compared to the unvaccinated, the report revealed.

Between June 13 and 27, 2022, the average weekly deaths were 23.3 among unvaccinated individuals, 73.3 among fully vaccinated individuals with one additional dose, and 144 among fully vaccinated individuals with two or more additional doses.

From July 4 to 18, 2022, unvaccinated deaths averaged 13 per week, compared to 63 deaths among fully vaccinated individuals with one additional dose and 20 deaths among those with two or more additional doses.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency Saturday after several wind-driven brush fires broke out in New York’s Long Island, sending large smoke plumes into the air and shutting down a highway.

Fire crews in Suffolk County responded to at least three β€œmajor brush fires” on the East End, county executive Ed Romaine said. The fires have shut down a stretch of Sunrise Highway, the New York Department of Transportation said.

French PM Franсois Bayrou recently dismissed the idea of consulting the public on key defense decisions

Thousands of protesters marched through Paris on Saturday to oppose what they see as French President Emmanuel Macron’s militaristic approach to foreign policy and his lack of interest in achieving peace in the Ukraine conflict.

The demonstration was organized by Florian Philippot and his party, The Patriots. Chanting slogans and carrying signs such as β€œWe don’t want to die for Ukraine,” and β€œMacron, we don’t want your war,” the crowd moved from the Place du Palais Royal to the Place Pierre Laroque.

Macron on Wednesday proposed expanding France’s nuclear deterrent to protect EU nations and urged European members of NATO to take more responsibility for their own defense. He cited uncertainty over Washington’s commitment to Ukraine, especially as relations between Kiev and US President Donald Trump’s administration experienced a setback after Vladimir Zelensky rejected calls to negotiate peace with Russia.

The European Court of Justice considers that doctors will be solely responsible for the consequences of covid injections because they were free to refuse to inject

According to a ruling by the European Court of Justice, all healthcare professionals who urged or vaccinated you against Covid are civilly and criminally liable.

Professor Frajeseβ€˜s case before the European Court of Justice had a surprising outcome! According to the Court, a medical prescription was required to administer the anti-Covid vaccines.

But there’s more: doctors could have chosen whether or not to administer them, and even advised against them, to such an extent that the potential civil and criminal liability of healthcare professionals is attributable to the specific case.

The reasons given by the Court could thus call into question the disciplinary and criminal proceedings brought against doctors who opposed vaccinations, and instead attribute serious responsibilities to doctors who vaccinated β€œwithout ifs or buts”, thus also promoting the risk of causing adverse events.

β€œThe Court had to confirm, even in a brief parenthesis, that the Commission’s decisions to authorize marketing β€œdo not entail any obligation on doctors to prescribe and administer the said vaccines to their patients”.

He reaffirmed the fundamental principle of the right to freedom of treatment and to choose the most appropriate, safest and most effective treatment by the doctor, in good faith and in all conscience, in the specific case and in the exclusive interest of the patient’s health.

South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol, who lawmakers voted to impeach over his declaration of martial law, has been freed from detention after prosecutors decided not to appeal a court decision canceling his arrest.

Yoon remains suspended from his duties and still faces ongoing criminal and impeachment trials.

He was seen bowing to cheering supporters, who were waving Korean and US flags, as he walked out of the detention center in Uiwang on Saturday.

β€œI would also like to express my deep gratitude to the many citizens who have supported me despite the cold weather, as well as to our future generations,” Yoon said in a statement following his release.

His release came after Seoul Central District Court on Friday canceled his arrest warrantbased on technical and legal grounds. The Seoul Detention Center confirmed to CNN earlier on Saturday that they received a letter from the Seoul prosecutors’ office ordering his release.
